Mixed Media Objects 1993-1998

All fabrics comprise fibers and the spaces between them.  The space is vital to the pliability of the textile plane, space between fibers allow them to flex, bend or be compressed, interstices allow air to penetrate and temperature to be controlled, space also allows for light penetration or transfer resulting in translucency or transparency of the textile plane.  The interval (“ma” in Japanese) is an essence, and an expressive goal.
